Main Takeaway: Context (almost) always makes AI more effective
Context is King
Most business owners we talk to use AI for simple tasks like editing an email, and that’s a great place to start! However, the more context you provide an AI tool like ChatGPT, the more effective and accurate it will be for your use case.
If you’ve poked around AI long enough, you know what I’m talking about when it comes to providing clear, detailed prompts. But now many tools can easily reference files (if not whole file systems).
Enter Cursor
If you’re unfamiliar, Cursor is an AI tool primarily marketed to coders to help automate coding. However, when you breakdown coding to what it really is (editing a bunch of inter-related files), you can apply Cursor to any writing or project based workflow as well.
Here’s an easy example of how you can use it:
Say you always send over a Scope of Work for client projects, and you have an existing template you use for a specific project type. If you use ChatGPT or another similar tool, you might upload the template and paste your client notes, with the prompt: “Please create a Scope of Work for Bob Smith using this note and template.”
Easy enough, but you still had to tell the AI which files to use, how.
With Cursor, it can access any files you currently have within the folders you specify. Neat! In this example, when you use Cursor you would not even need to specify which files to use in your prompt, Cursor will search to find the relevant inputs (although like anything else, it’s always helpful to point it in the right direction).
